Here we have a complete wheel and tire designed for tabletop robots, specifically engineered to work with 3mm Diameter D-Shaft small geared motors like those sold by Pololu. This print requires precise slicer settings for fine detail, so be sure to adjust your settings accordingly. A general-purpose multi-function adapter is also included in this design, allowing you to connect a 3mm D-Shaft motor (or other scaled version) to various components such as gears, pulleys, levers, or any other device. To use this adapter, simply merge it with another wheel and print the entire assembly. The wheel shown in green with the 3mm hub is a single piece that prints well with PLA. For the tire, I recommend using NinjaFlex to achieve a realistic rubber texture. Both components require a 0.4mm nozzle for fine resolution and accurate shaft hole dimensions. The D-Shaft is the key feature of this print, and it requires careful attention to detail. If you're printing from a Simplify 3D gcode file, be sure to import the model into Cura and adjust the settings accordingly. The shaft hole should be sized to fit snugly onto the motor shaft with minimal friction. You may need to make adjustments to the design on your printer and scale it slightly to achieve a perfect fit between the wheel and hub. A 2-3% scale change in the X and Y axis should suffice for most printers and materials. The original wheel and tire design is based on Thingiverse's "Small Tire" by Bastien, Thing ID: 626863.
