Wharfedale Diamond 225 bass port mod and spacer
thingiverse
I began tinkering with the Wharfedale Diamond 225 speakers after watching Tharbamar's YouTube channel. He advocates for swapping out the standard spacers with custom-made spacers of approximately 10mm height to enhance bass and lower mid-frequency performance. Check out his video here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vT3kMn2S5R4&ab_channel=Tharbamar I designed and 3-D printed 10mm spacers, then tested them on the speakers and observed a noticeable improvement in bass frequencies. The midrange compression vanished, resulting in a more open sound. Additionally, high frequencies gained prominence as lower mids were subtly pushed to the background. This change was a welcome upgrade to the overall sound signature of these exceptional speakers. To further refine the mod, I created a "power port" inspired by Polk subwoofers, which effectively minimizes port noise. I attached the power ports to the bottom plate using double-sided tape, and this significantly reduced port noise at higher volumes.
