WGS

thingiverse

This is a WGS model based on paper diagrams and pictures of the spacecraft. This was not originally made for larger distribution so there will be some pretty whack components to this. For example, the whole model is scaled to accommodate the dowel that allows the solar arrays to rotate. The model requires some painting to distinguish some features (phased array, gimbaled dishes, star trackers, earth coverage horns. I am not an artists and was able to get by with some masking with painters tape, careful application of paint with a small brush, and careful removal of mistakes with rubbing alc or a razor. I printed the model on a Prusa i3MK2 and did some mild post-processing with some small circular files to make sure the dowel rotated with the right amount of friction. I also used sandpaper to prep surfaces for gluing before final application. There are some additional files that serve as a stand for the model with a 3" x 2" area for a label. All components of this model are printing at 75% scale relative to the CAD which accommodates a 5mm dowel. Outside of the filament you will need: - White Paint - Black Paint (to make grey) - 5 mm dowel (I used a pack of 150 mm x 5 mm steel rods from amazon and cut them down with a dremel) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B082ZNS27M/ - Cyanoacrylate
