Wet Vac attachments
thingiverse
I've been tinkering with Wet Vac attachments, and this thing is a work-in-progress! I tried my pieces out, but I'm not happy with the results - there's just not enough suction! The 3/4" ID tube with a straight exit had a lack of suction, while the 5/8ID tube at an angle with the output necked down actually created positive airflow instead of negative pressure! Whoops! They fit nicely, though. I'm revising and reprinting, and I'll test again this weekend. I'll post new files after that. Sorry about the inconvenience. The story behind these parts is pretty interesting. I had a large tractor tire go flat and gather water before it came off the rim. Before I reseated it, I needed to get the water out of the tire. It was too big for me to fit my hand inside or get a Wet Vac hose in there. So, I looked around the barn and found an HVLP paint gun and sandblasting gun that inspired me. A large volume suction spray gun can do more than just start a siphon! I have several Wet Vacs and high-volume, low-pressure fans just waiting for their next use. I grabbed a small diameter tube and modeled it, but only made it 3" long. Dimensions are rounded in JPGs. My parts fit properly as printed - pretty happy about that! So, I made the Wet Vac-1.5 to 1.18 od connector pipe.stl part. From there, I created the suction hose connector part. I figured ¾” ID tubing would be easy to find, so I went with it. I've printed this one and had good airflow blowing past the hole creating a nice vacuum. Then, I made the Wet Vac-75 id suction tube straight.stl part. Next, I thought funneling it would increase pressure and suction, so I made the Wet Vac-75 id suction tube w neckdn.stl part. I liked the neckdown and thought it might be handy to have a blower attachment, so I made the Wet Vac-1.5 to .44 neckdown.stl part. After that, I went to the store to get some tubing. I was in luck - they had a whole selection of tubing clearance! Would you believe not one inch of ¾” ID? They did have a roll of 5/8” ID x ¾” OD tubing, though. So, I made the Wet Vac 625 id suction tube w neckdn.stl part. Then, just to see if even more output diameter reduction increased suction, I modeled the Wet Vac 625 id suc tube w half output.stl part. And yes, it did occur to me that most people will have a Wet Vac and not a blower, so I took the design to its logical beginning point and made a connector for the 5/8” ID tubing to the hose - now you can just attach it to your Wet Vac and suck it in! Also included is the Autocad 2010 file. More to come! I'll probably create an adaptor for standard large to small tubes, and I'm also thinking of making a couple hose attachments for some special-purpose ideas.
