The production of the Mk.III SD aircraft began in 1935, with approximately 1650 units manufactured for covert operations involving transporting agents or VIPs between enemy territories. The aircraft featured an additional 150 Imperial gallon (682 litre) auxiliary fuel tank, a left-side access ladder to the rear cockpit, an armored floor, enhanced radio equipment, and provisions for two passengers.
