I just got my brand new external hard drive and immediately noticed it was top-heavy, so I set out to design a base that would give the drive some much-needed stability. The custom base fits snugly between the tiny rubber feet at the bottom of the drive, effectively doubling its footprint. This clever addition has made a huge difference - the drive is now much harder to knock over. To ensure my design was accurate, I carefully measured the Western Digital My Book 4 TB model and based it on those dimensions. In theory, this base should work with any other My Book external hard drives from WD.
