Ancient Petroglyphs Near Kirknewton Unveiled. A colossal boulder, likely hewn from andesite, stands proudly south of Kirknewton in Northumberland. This intricately carved stone, situated approximately 350 meters southeast of the sprawling West Hill Camp, is a testament to the region's rich history. The motifs etched into its surface are a series of cup marks clustered along one edge of the boulder. Initially documented on the Beckensall Archive as 'West Hill, Kirknewton,' this ancient relic was added to ERA in 2008.
