Working on a cutting-edge 3D printer design, one that's tailored to the needs and expectations of the RepRap and maker communities. Design Objectives: * Minimize reliance on vitamins (with a comprehensive list of effective options and price points) * Develop quick-release mechanisms for multiple components * Establish a consistent belt/carriage standard that won't change (I'm optimistic about this!) * Offer various carriage designs, with the potential for a community-driven standard Implemented Features: * Utilize ACME 8mm leadscrews * Support any tooth width of 6mm wide belts * Incorporate tool-less belt removal * Design carriage mounts to attach directly to bushings without screws or zip ties * Provide options for top bushing compatibility with either 2xLM8UUs or 1xLML8UU * Create a flat-faced carriage for easier custom design modifications * Introduce tool-less removal of carriage/belt tensioner, enabling the printer to serve as other CNC machines Planned Features: * Implement drag chain cable management * Support specific controller and cable-connector types * Develop conveyor belt Y axis functionality * Incorporate heated chamber with external Z and Y stepper control * Design compact tensioners for all axes * Plan future support for 10mm+12mm bushings Designed Carriages So Far: * Direct-Drive Extruder carriage * (Planned) Bowden Extruder carriage (can likely adapt by omitting motor mount) * (Planned) Sketching carriage (for a spring-loaded pen/pencil/marker holder) I'll continue updating this as I progress, specifically migrating all files to the newer version of FreeCAD, which will simplify editing and maintenance. The license remains non-commercial, but I'm open to granting permission in specific cases. When completed, I'll be selling kits based on this design. You're free to sell accessories or custom carriages that fit within this framework.
