The original model was modified from a 53-foot design to create a scaled-down version that is 40 feet in length. It has been optimized for the DaVinci robotic system, where it can operate as a single piece with a smooth rotation of 30 degrees. The mechanism could be improved by incorporating an articulation feature, but that is still under development at this stage.
