This is a charging handle that lets you power an 18650 lithium-ion battery in a Welch Allyn otoscope/ophthalmoscope model 71670. The type of charging handle that requires a base station to recharge fits an 18650 battery with a diameter of 18 mm. To use this, you need to add a small metal piece to connect the ground circuit to the battery. I attached a washer under the spring inside the battery cap to make it work. This lets you replace expensive nickel cadmium batteries with a much cheaper lithium-ion battery.
