Weight Primer
thingiverse
A fun little guide to yarn weights, presented in the shape of a happy sheep! Let's get started on this woolly adventure. First off, we've got our very lightweight yarns. These are perfect for those intricate lace patterns or delicate baby blankets. They're usually labeled as "Fingering" weight, and they're so fine that you'll be using a good pair of knitting needles to work with them. Next up, we have the Super Fine/ Baby yarns. These babies are just a bit heavier than fingering weight but still super light. They're great for working on those tiny toys or garments for the little ones in your life. Moving right along, we've got our Sport weight yarns. These are the perfect middle ground between fine and medium-weight yarns. They work beautifully for baby clothes, hats, and scarves. Then there's the Medium/ Worsted weight yarns. These guys are a bit heftier than sport weight but still nice and smooth to work with. Perfect for making up those cozy sweaters or afghans that you just can't wait to snuggle up in. We're not done yet, folks! Next, we've got the Bulky weight yarns. These are perfect for making quick and easy projects like hats, scarves, or even a blanket or two. Just be careful not to get too carried away with the speed – you might end up finishing before your project is dry! Last but certainly not least, we have our super-duper-hefty Jumbo weight yarns. These babies are perfect for making huge blankets, chunky scarves, or even a nice big rug. So there you have it, folks! A simple primer on the different weights of yarn. Now go forth and get knitting (or crocheting) – the world is your woolly oyster!
