Weighing Spool holder #FilamentChallenge
thingiverse
Update: A container has been added to hold the counterweight, still a work in progress. This endeavor is ongoing, requiring resolution of the counterweight system. My current concept involves designing coin holders for each corner, which would then be attached via strings to frames and rods. I previously attempted utilizing apples as an inspired alternative, but their efficacy was limited and they were overly bulky. Suggestions are appreciated. Fearing uncertainty about the amount of filament remaining on a spool, a handy spool holder can be employed. This tool features a weighing mechanism that showcases the percentage of filament left on a roll. Functioning through a counterweight system, this innovative device offers accurate readings. A newcomer to Sketchup with limited hours of experience, I question whether sufficient tolerances have been achieved for the moving parts of the spool holder. Nevertheless, all necessary parts have been printed and the assembly of the spool holder has been completed utilizing my printer. Feel free to remix it as desired. Instructions Prints: Print each required part (optionally print either Spool Holder Rod with hooks or without). Settings for each component include: SpoolHolderFrameFront_fixed: layer height 0.3mm, 10-20% infill SpoolHolderFrameBack: layer height 0.3mm, 10-20% infill Counterweightholder: layer height 0.3mm, 10-20% infill For SpoolHolderRod, print with 0.3mm layer height and 10-20% infill, and apply a 3mm brim to prevent small squares from detaching (estimated print time approximately 5 hours). Similarly, for the group of parts consisting of Dial, DialRod, and Spoolholderlink, set layer height to 0.25mm with 10-20% infill; estimated print time for this set is approximately 20 minutes. Assembly: Please refer to the gallery for more detailed information. Next steps include attaching strings to each corner of the spool rod, looping them over hooks on the frames, and securing them at both ends. Now comes a crucial task: attaching the counterweight holder strings. Consider contributing your own ideas for alternative weights!
