Weeping Willow Tree
thingiverse
The tree-like design features a hollow interior to prevent plastic deformation and warping; this is based on the file willow_110210a.stl. Inspired by the weeping willow, it displays branching sine waves in a downward view, with an internal ellipsoidal shell. Although there's another iteration (thing:6397) that was favored aesthetically, it couldn't be printed due to warping issues. The print size is 100 mm tall and 80 mm wide. MakerBot users with protruding head bolts on their build platform should set the "raft outset radius" to 0 for clearance purposes. ANSYS users can create an 1/8 model from mk_willow_110210a.mac, mesh it with SHELL43's, and convert to .stl using ansys_2_stl_cyclic_101024a.mac found in thing:5883.
