The Weeden Island Zoned Red piece is a broken fragment of a closed vessel that features a distinctive finial and intricate pierced decoration. It was unearthed in Levy County, Florida. Dating back to the Late Woodland period around AD 650, this artifact belongs to the Weeden Island culture. Its composition includes sand as an inclusion or temper. This significant find is now part of the extensive collection in the Ceramic Technology Laboratory at the Florida Museum of Natural History. A three-dimensional digital model of the piece was created by Lindsay Bloch using a NextEngine 3D Desktop laser scanner.
