Weed Remover
thingiverse
I'm creating a printed part that will make it easy for me to remove weeds from my lawn and garden. I saw something similar in a hardware store, but it was bigger and more expensive than what I want. Ideally, you should be able to get the prongs under the base of the weed vegetation and use some force to lever it out. Feel free to make changes or scale up as your printer's build volume allows. Print Settings Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator Mini Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.15 Infill: 15% Notes: Switch layer height and infill layer height to 0.15 for a nice resolution. I'm not sure how it will hold up, but 15% should be strong enough. How I Made This I am an expert in SOLIDWORKS and created this with lofts. Here's how: 1) First, sketch a basic curve for the part. 2) Create a loft between two points and two other profiles (I used circles with lines going horizontally through the top and bottom). 3) Next, create an extruded cylinder for the handle. You'll need another plane to sketch on. 4) Add a cut revolve to the handle for grip. 5) Loft between the three bodies (the two earlier lofts and the one extrude). 6) Finally, add a cut down between the prongs to help grasp the weed root. 7) Add a fillet to the top of the handle.
