Weed Eater -SCREW
thingiverse
I'm not sure PLA is the best choice for this project. I printed two of these parts, but they only lasted about 15 full 2-hour uses before breaking down. The plastic screw I designed fits perfectly on my Weed Eater model 317, also known as a Lawn Trimmer. I had to print it three times to get it right - the first two attempts failed due to poor screw hole spacing and incorrect threading direction. To fix these issues, I adjusted the screw holes from 4.5mm to 5.5mm in width and reversed the threading direction. This simple change made all the difference. The images show the original yellow part alongside the two white failures that resulted from my initial mistakes. I printed this part with PLA, using support material around the bottom edges for added stability. Fusion 360 was used to model this design, which has proven itself to be a reliable replacement for the screw on my Lawn Trimmer. With some fine-tuning and experimentation, anyone facing similar issues can now create their own custom solution to replace the part.
