Hey people, I love to brew my own beer and I'm also a beginner when it comes to programming using Arduino and IoT. So, I was checking out the iSpindel or other Hydrometer (130€) but found it too complex or too expensive. So here's my solution for it, which costs only a few dollars or euros (~30€ or less) and is easy to set up and check data with. You can use it to monitor temperature, °Plato, pitch, and voltage of your battery. Here's what you need: - Printed WebrewSpindel (infill 20% 0.15mm) - 18650 LiPo (mine is USB 3.7 V 1400 mAh) - NodeMCU-ESP32 - GY-521 Gyroscope - XXL PETLING with cap - Mini switch - Some wires - Lead weights to get the pitch in clear water Steps: 1. Print WebrewSpindel 2. Glue and attach the nodeMCU like on the chart 3. Do the wiring 4. Create your Thingspeak account - you'll need 4 fields: temperature, °Plato, pitch, and voltage 5. Set up the code - add your WiFi SSID and PW, add your Thingspeak API key (for writing), make some measurements with a kalibration Excel sheet, replace the formula, and upload on the nodemcu - additionally, you can use the Thingspeak app for your cellphone Done! Have fun! About the code: I included the function to test it with delay and serial monitor in dry environment. The code you will find first is for uploading data to thingspeak.
