This is an extremely specialized gadget, yet it proves to be incredibly useful whenever needed. When setting up a Weber DGV 32/36 carburetor, the first step is to adjust the fuel chamber float to the correct level. Typically, this involves positioning the float so that it sits 41mm above the carburetor cover in one position and 51mm in another, all done by carefully squinting across the float towards a metric ruler. This process can be quite finicky, especially when handling delicate components with great care. This simple gauge greatly simplifies the task at hand, allowing you to simply hold it over the float and determine if there is a gap between them (indicating the float is too low) or if the gauge is pushing the float upwards (indicating it's set too high). Since this process often requires multiple attempts to get the float adjustment tabs in their correct positions, using a simple gauge makes life much easier. This gadget was designed using OpenSCAD software, so it can be easily modified to suit any unique requirements. Printer Settings Printer: G&C CoreXY printer Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.3 Infill: 20% Notes: The gauge can be printed at whatever settings best suit your specific printer and preferred material. It's essential that the finished product is reasonably rigid. I successfully used PLA with a 0.4mm nozzle at 0.3mm resolution, which worked well for me. Please note that the material should be relatively resistant to gasoline (petrol). My carburetor was completely dry when adjusting the float, but caution should be exercised if your carburetor still contains fuel. Post-Printing The only post-printing step I needed to take was to carefully scrape back the slight lip caused by the first layer 'squash'. I then verified the critical measurements using a high-quality steel rule before putting it into use. Safety: When working with components that may contain fuel, exercise extreme caution. I do not accept responsibility for your actions when working on a car's fuel system.
