Weber DGV 32/36 float adjustment gauge
prusaprinters
This a highly esoteric thing - but very useful when needed. When setting up a Weber DGV 32/36 carburettor the first thing that must be done is to set the fuel chamber float to the correct level. Normally this is done by squinting across the float towards a metric rule, with the aim of getting it to sit 41mm above the carburettor cover in one position, and 51mm in another. This is quite fiddly, especially when you're holding a fragile set of components in your hand. This simple gauge makes the whole job much easier, as all that is necessary is to hold the gauge over the float and see whether there is a gap between them (too low) or if the gauge is pushing the float (too high). As this job usually involves several attempts to get the float adjustment tabs in their correct positions then a simple gauge makes life much easier. This was designed in OpenSCAD, so it can be modified for any different needs. Print Settings Printer: G&C CoreXY printer Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.3 Infill: 20% Notes: This gauge can be made at whichever settings suit your printer, and from your preferred material. The only requirement is that it is reasonably rigid when finished. I used PLA at 0.3mm resolution with a 0.4mm nozzle, which worked well for me. Note that the material should be reasonably resistant to petrol (US = gas). My carburettor was completely dry when I adjusted the float, but care should be taken if your carburettor still has fuel on or in it. Post-Printing The only thing I needed to do after printing was to scrape back the slight lip caused by the first layer 'squash'. I then checked the critical measurements using a good-quality steel rule before use. Safety: Please take care when working on anything that may contain fuel - I can not and will not take responsibility for your actions when working on a car's fuel system. Category: Automotive
