A weathervane is a wind vane that is mounted on the roof or spire of a building, displaying the direction from which the wind is blowing. It is usually in the form of an arrow-shaped pointer with a symbol or emblem at its tip, such as a compass rose, a weathercock (a wind vane in the shape of a bird), or a representation of an animal or object.
