Weatherproof sliding lid Xiaomi Yi case with GoPro mount

This is a waterproof GoPro mounting case designed specifically for the original Xiaomi Yi action camera. The idea behind it was to create a versatile solution that could be used as a helmet chin mount for my AGV K3 SV helmet, where the standard underwater housing would be overkill, but still useful in various scenarios where you need to securely attach your GoPro mount to the Yi. To ensure weatherproofing, I added small recesses around the button holes on the inside of the case. These recesses allow you to glue tiny TPU/rubber membranes over the switches, providing an extra layer of protection against the elements. Since my setup didn't require a waterproof design in the end, I chose not to showcase this feature in the pictures. The case features a sliding door at the back that clicks securely into place, making it extremely unlikely to ever slide open accidentally. The design incorporates tight tolerances in the click mechanism, requiring a gentle touch to lift the lid and access the Yi inside. There's a noticeable amount of friction holding the door shut, keeping everything secure. A lens ring is included, which can be attached to the front of the case over the lens barrel using glue. This allows you to add a small circular watch glass with a 30mm diameter, providing an additional layer of weather protection for the Yi. While water may still seep in through the sliding lid interface under pressure, this setup is 99% effective. The case is made from strong ABS plastic and has been motorcycle crash-tested, making it incredibly durable. Since the initial photos were taken, I've tweaked the design to allow more rotation of the GoPro prongs, enabling the camera to be mounted in a wider range of situations.
