WD MyBook Live Duo - Cooling Stand
thingiverse
In Australia's summer heat, I experienced overheating issues with my WD MyBook Live Duo. To resolve this, I designed and printed a cooling stand that enhances airflow circulation. This stand fits various WD Duo/Raid external storage devices like the MyBook Studio 4T. The design is compatible with Makerware, ReplicatorG, and Skeinforge using an ASIC solid in Shark FX (sfx file provided). Since its implementation, my device has been quiet even during 30-degree C temperatures. I printed the stand using silver PLA filament at 2 shells, 15% infill, and a 0.2 mm layer height with the skin module activated in Skeinforge/ReplicatorG for a smooth 0.1 mm surface finish. The stand also features snap-off ear raft print aids to prevent breaking during printing.
