Wax Seal
thingiverse
I tried to replicate an ancient wax seal from the House of Tiles in Lerna as seen here:http://antiquatedantiquarian.blogspot.com/2015/04/the-minoans-seals-and-sealings.html. Getting a good impression was tougher than expected, and I ended up trying about a dozen times before getting a decent one. You can find plenty of tutorials on using wax seals on Youtube that are really helpful, and dunking the seal in ice water for a few seconds beforehand makes a big difference too. This seal works with either the ring base or stamp base, by the way - the ring base is about size 10 as far as I know. Print Settings: Printer: Polyprinter 229; Rafts: No; Supports: Yes; Resolution: 70%; Infill: 12.5%. Notes: When printing this with support material for angles over 45 degrees, it didn't actually print with support but ended up with some messy ends at the top of the ring - it might be worth trying a lower angle instead. On my previous version, the wax kept getting stuck in the seal, so I brushed a little acetone on the impression surface and let it sit overnight - seems to have done the trick!
