Waves, interference patterns, convex lens, side obstacle, and such

thingiverse

These files capture several wave interference patterns from ripple tank simulation images and convert them into 3D formats. The collection includes 2 point interference, lateral quadrupole, linear quadrupole, and other patterns. I haven't built these models yet, but you can find examples of my other wave patterns to get an idea of what they look like. You will want to reset the scales as these files are large in size (240 mm) and have a vertical scale that's ideal for experimentation. The smaller sizes are parent files generated by the Simplify3D conversion routine, while the larger ones are created by smoothing the meshes of those files to produce much bigger and smoother wave patterns. These files should not be considered quantitative due to the multiple transformations involved, but they are likely close enough and serve as good representations of waves in a tangible form. Exploring adaptations for artistic or other purposes seems like a rich area to explore. Wave patterns are fundamental aspects of nature that we can't directly see, yet they're especially beautiful because of it.
