I built a lighter version of my kayak's transom mount using 2x6's to hold a trolling motor, replacing the original heavier one. I attached it securely with Kregg jig screws and employed a customized contour tool printed from Tinkercad to create the plate design in the software. The result fit perfectly, leaving me eager to test it out. Once I do, I'll be sure to update with new photos. My kayak is equipped with a 30lb thrust trolling motor running on 12V power and a 50W flexible solar panel that maintains the charge on my battery, which is a small 12V riding lawnmower battery powering the motor. To connect the battery to the motor, I used jumper cables with the ends removed and reattached, as one was located in the nose and the other in the rear. I have since added a two-piece version of the transom mount design, including the rods that secure the pieces together.
