This is an ongoing theme, water wheels powered by overflow when watering the plants on my balcony. I made a few things earlier, among them steckhalter-fur-wasserrad-30x32 and water-wheel-and-holders. Basic dimensions from there apply here like it's all done for a 19mm board. What I wanted now was a way to mount a large wheel (40x45mm) so that it doesn't stand upwards but is held horizontically in front of a board. The picture explains it better than words. To make printing that easier I designed it in 2 parts. There is a socket that goes over the board and has a pcket where the other part which holds the wheel can be pushed in.The fit is more on the relaxed side so it's easy to adjust the position if needed.Add the waterwheel on an axis and don't forget to add a washer on both sides between wheel and holder to avoid the wheel sticking to the side of the holder. If you have no suitable washer, use 2 turns of a wire on some round item thicker than the axis (i.e. the shaft of a screwdriver) to create your own washer.Once the wheel is mounted, position a water reservoir right on top of it. That was easy for me as I already had a ‘hanging garden’ and just added it to it. An empty water bottle where you cut the bottom off and make 3 holes to mount it on cotton threads, something like tht…A sensitive bit is the hole in the cap which has to go as straight as possible so the low-pressure water spray goes down to the very same point as the high-pressure one. If not, you will have to adjust the position of the water wheel over runtime. And then? It runs 18 min for me with the 1,5 liter of water in a Saskia water reservoir. I included the model files for the 40x45 water wheel and axis which is a remix of WATER MILL BATH TOY by TheSloppyApprentice
