HMAS Canberra, Waterline WW2 model kit, crafted on a 1:700 scale, allowing for easy scaling up or down as needed. At the start of World War II, the cruiser saw extensive use for patrols and convoy escort missions between Western Australia, Sri Lanka, and South Africa, while also protecting Malaysian and Javanese waters in New Guinea. As the Guadalcanal Campaign intensified and Tulagi landings took place, Canberra played a pivotal role until disaster struck on August 9, 1942, when the Japanese launched their initial shots at the Battle of Savo Island. Weakened by this opening salvo, Canberra's propulsion was severely compromised, forcing an immediate evacuation before she was scuttled in Ironbottom Sound by two swift American destroyers.
