Waterfall at St. Stephan's Church, Munich
myminifactory
A limp mattress slumps over a towering slab; droplets of water gradually trickle from its surface to the ground below. Tatiana Trouvé's outdoor fountain, Waterfall (2013), could easily be mistaken for discarded rubbish scattered on a neglected ruin. Trouvé's sculptures are skillfully crafted puzzles that challenge viewers to form their own, sometimes conflicting, interpretations about the underlying narrative. In Waterfall, the cast bronze mattress and the concrete wall it rests upon are both unsettling and strangely captivating – an anti-monument to a dystopian contemporary world.
