The original 3D model was developed with Sketchup 13 and then transformed into various other formats. Its native format is .skp, while the 3ds Max scene utilizes version 2016 of 3ds Max software, rendering the design with Vray 3.00 The cross-flow turbine model first gained use by Mandiri Foundation in 1988, drawing from Ueli Meier's book "Design of Cross-Flow Turbine BYS/T3" and Swiss Center for Appropriate Technology (SKAT). The book was acquired through the Asia Foundation. Due to its ease of fabrication with basic tools and machinery in a small workshop, the turbine model is still applied at multiple sites in Indonesia.
