Hello, I create designs for free and for fun. Please use these designs exclusively for private purposes. Printed something out? Let me know about it and share a photo! The new water tower in Den Helder, North Holland, was designed by architect Jan Schotel and constructed in 1908. It replaced the old water tower from 1856. The tower stands in the city center next to the De Vijfsprong roundabout. When built, it stood at the border between buildings and meadows. This water tower is 40.15 meters tall and holds a 400 cubic meter water reservoir. In 1958, a plan was created to renovate the tower. Architect J.H.J. Kording devised a plan to install a new water reservoir and add a concrete layer on the outside. The tower was rebuilt from 1959 to 1961. The water tower went out of service at the end of the 1980s and was sold to the Den Helder municipality. A café operated on the ground floor for a few years. After the café closed, the interior of the water tower was converted into a climbing wall. The tower underwent renovation again in 2005. This time, the concrete layer was removed, and the tower was covered with bricks, making it nearly identical to its original state from 1908.
