Human: Water is a nearly transparent, tasteless, odorless, chemical substance that serves as the main component of Earth's streams, lakes, and oceans, and the fluids of most living organisms. It is essential for all forms of life on Earth and supports all known ecosystems. Even though it provides no calories or organic nutrients, its vital role cannot be overstated. Its chemical formula is H2O, signifying that each water molecule consists of two hydrogen atoms bonded to a single oxygen atom through covalent bonds. Water in its liquid state is referred to as the "water form" at standard ambient temperature and pressure conditions. Precipitation manifests as rain and aerosols manifest as fog due to the accumulation of suspended water droplets and ice crystals. In finely divided crystalline form, ice may precipitate in the form of snow. The gaseous form of water is known as steam or water vapor. Throughout its various states (liquid, solid, gas), water plays a pivotal role in Earth's ecosystems and continues to flow constantly through evaporation, transpiration (evapotranspiration), condensation, precipitation, and runoff cycles. It often finds its way into the sea due to these processes. Approximately 71% of Earth's surface is covered by water bodies primarily located in seas and oceans. A relatively small amount of freshwater (about 1.7%) can be found as groundwater beneath the surface. Another small portion of the remaining water exists as ice, forming glaciers in polar regions such as Antarctica and Greenland (also about 1.7%), while a negligible portion (less than one-hundredth of one percent) remains in the air as vapor or clouds. In various parts of the world, fishing provides food sources both in freshwater bodies like rivers, lakes, and ponds as well as in saltwater bodies. Most international trade and transport are reliant on boats traveling through seas, rivers, canals to deliver a wide range of goods, commodities (including oil and natural gas) along with manufactured products over long distances. Huge quantities of water (and its solid or gaseous forms), ice, and steam find practical applications in industries for both heating and cooling purposes as well as within homes. Being an excellent solvent for many types of chemicals substances, it has extensive industrial use across various sectors besides food preparation (in the form of boiling, steaming etc) including washing and cleansing actions throughout everyday lives and workplaces alike. In addition, a great many sports, games and leisure activities that we have today all rely on the water either in solid or fluid forms (including surfing). Many aquatic plants like sea grass live under water bodies. A wide variety of phenomena occur due to these hydrophobic interactions including the melting point and boiling point differences in some organic substances (such as certain alcohols), fats, oils etc with those occurring for compounds with low polarity such as sulfuric compounds with higher molecular weights than methane which may result in higher freezing points under different circumstances compared to its solid. Hydrogen bonding occurs in water due to this property as explained above: 1- This is why capillary forces occur in all vascular plant tissues so it has significant role of helping roots of these plants stay above the level ground - against gravity pull of water - allowing absorption for them from their own soil (ground below them) which makes their existence possible under surface.
