Water Rocket Parachute Deployment System
thingiverse
The Air Speed Flap system is employed to deploy a parachute on a water rocket. A small and simple parachute, made from the bottom of a light shopping bag, is attached using 4 strings to a central string connected to both the base and cone of the rocket. To operate this mechanism, an inflated balloon serves as a spring. The Air Speed Flap requires an additional bottle (80mm * 30mm) glued onto it. Upon launch, air pressure pushes the flap down, releasing the cone. As the rocket ascends, air pressure against the nose keeps the flap in place; upon slowing down, the spring overcomes this resistance and deploys the parachute.
