A basic model shell is used to analyze hydrostatic pressure in a water container using Autodesk Inventor 2015 and Autodesk Nastran In-CAD 2015 software. The type of analysis performed is linear static, analyzing the stresses resulting from hydrostatic load without large displacements or nonlinear conditions. However, Autodesk Inventor's Hydrostatic Analysis feature also offers an option for analyzing stress with significant nonlinear behavior caused by large displacement of container walls and pressure head, but with caution, to verify convergence with a minimum twice smaller element size as default in Nastran CAD models is more conservative method and recommended if the engineer desires results.
