Water Bucket

Dr Iskandar embarked on a journey to Langkawi, where he encountered the 'well-and-bucket' system that stirred memories of Singapore's kampongs from the 1950s, which relied heavily on wells instead of pipes for water supply. Noting the widespread use of 'well and bucket' systems across various cultures, especially in rural communities, Dr Iskandar sought to highlight its strength as a potent symbol of hope and promise, embodying the excitement of drawing water from a deep well. To emphasize this significance, he elevated the humble bucket form to a majestic posture, infusing it with a radiant shomen that radiates warmth and golden accents. The subtle rosy undertones and crackle slip glaze textures add depth to its globular body and straight neck, while suana and yuzuhada patterns create an intricate beauty reminiscent of traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
