Water bottle tote, clip on
thingiverse
This is a convenient water bottle tote that clips onto your belt loop. I got fed up with lugging around those heavy bottles in my hands or stuffing them into the pockets of my cargo pants, so I came up with this simple solution. It prints out as two separate pieces, which I attached using acetone (nail polish remover). I added a ring from a keychain and a basic carabiner clip. 8/2/16 - posted final 2.0 design. Removed older stl files. The smaller shaft proved too flimsy so I'm only posting the stronger version now. Important note: Not all water bottles are created equal. I discovered that the Kirkland brand from Costco has a slightly larger base and doesn't fit easily in this tote. The inner diameter is 67mm (~2.64 inches). You might want to scale up the stl file by a percent or two for better universality. Print Settings: Printer: FlashForge Creator Pro Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: .2 Infill: 50% Notes: The base doesn't require any supports, but the top portion needs one or two supports for the arch where the ring attaches. It can be printed at 15-20% infill, but I prefer to go up to at least 50% for added strength. Lower infill levels make the long shaft more fragile. Print out the two pieces. Clean the inside opening of the top portion with acetone, and wipe (or dip) the top of the rod on the lower piece in acetone, then press them together. Wipe additional acetone on top of and below the two pieces and hold until it sets. Run the ring through the loop and connect the carabiner clip. Attach the top belt and walk around town with your hands free water bottles.
