Watch Vise

Simple Tool to Open Your Watch with Ease. My son needed a tool to open the backs of special watches he collects, so I built one myself. The design is based on a simple tool we saw online that didn't require waiting a month for shipping. With the addition of a vise holder, we could start opening watches within hours that previously refused to cooperate without this little tool. You can buy it cheaply (approximately $3), but using your 3D printer gives you more fun and proves its usefulness once again. The required materials are: 1. A bolt with an M8x60 thread and a matching nut. 2. Two Allen screws with M5x60 threads and four matching nuts. 3. Enough springs to fit over the M5 Allen screw (I used two short springs on each side). 4. Four Allen screws with M4x20 threads for the stands. To assemble the tool, follow these steps: 1. Drill a large hole with an 8mm diameter to fit the M8 bolt. 2. Measure and drill two smaller holes to accommodate the M5 Allen screw. 3. Use a drill bit slightly smaller than the M4 thread to create four or eight top holes that can be tapped in. 4. Drill four pins to fit the M4 Allen screw. I printed this little vise using PETG, which is strong and nice to work with. The print settings for the Vise Clamps were 50% infill and four perimeters on all sides. The Vise holder was printed at 30% infill with two solid layers on top and bottom and four perimeters on the sides. To complete the project, you will need to print the vise and clamps once and four pins.
