Wasp Trap (redesigned!)
thingiverse
Easily turn old, empty soda and drink bottles into effective wasp traps with a quick cap print that's reusable! If you try one out, I'd love to see how many wasps it catches. To get a close-up look at my design process from start to finish, watch the YouTube video here: https://youtu.be/EpzpM1o6i6k Redesign Notes! After a few weeks of using this design, I made some key improvements. The size of the funnel has been increased to allow large wasps to enter easily. The flower is now designed in a wild rose style with detailed petals that should print well. To make it more durable, the flower is thicker and less likely to break if the bottle gets knocked over. I also updated the cap design to use less plastic while looking sleeker. Printed on a Printrbot Simple Metal at 0.15mm resolution using PLA filament (1.75mm). Designed in 123D Design and sliced with Cura. Fill it with dish soap to break surface tension, then beer - which attracts wasps without luring bees. I used JBijnens' soda cap model for the threads found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:806488 For my redesign, I used mile_zdr's Nozzle Bottle Cap found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:699358
