Wasp Trap (12 oz - 2 Liter Soda Bottle)
thingiverse
***Update 23AUG2018 - I added a long version for people who have escaping wasps, which is especially true of smaller bottles. This new model is now my top recommendation.***\r\n\r\n***Update 18AUG2018 - I thickened the cone to 1.0mm as some slicers struggled with the original 0.5mm thickness.***\r\n\r\nI created my wasp trap using the PCO1881 bottle cap, drawing inspiration from the "Soda Bottle Wasp Trap" design. However, I only used it as a starting point, and made significant changes to suit my needs.\r\n\r\nTo address the issue of wasps being unable to enter through the original holes, I enlarged them to 10mm in diameter. My design screws onto a PCO1881 bottle, which can be any size from 12oz to 2 liters.\r\n\r\nI've experimented with various baits, including sweet concoctions, beer, and proteins, and found that they work best at different times of the year. Proteins seem to attract wasps in spring and early summer, while sweet or beer-based baits are more effective later in summer and autumn. Please note that honey bees are not attracted to beer, making it a great choice for my trap.\r\n\r\nI'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions!
