I tried various materials, but it only makes sense to print upgrades for your printer now. The mess of the printing surface is unacceptable because the bolts with springs on them for adjusting the height are 3mm and the holes they fit into are 4.6mm in diameter. These are known as "shoulder washers" elsewhere, and you can probably find them somewhere else. But I measured and printed them out to try them. No more mess! I wish everything was this simple. Sharing the OpenSCAD source files in case your needs differ.
