Wars of Yor: Basics

Wars of Yor: Basics (TM) is a simplified wargame for two or more players with a Rock – Paper – Scissors style format. Cavalry beat infantry. Infantry beat pikemen. Pikemen beat Cavalry. Maneuver your armies' units and plan your attacks where you have the advantage.

The Bases are designed to be skeletonish to help save on PLA. Aren't we all trying to conserve as best we can now?

A two player game with 10 units per side will take about an hour to play on a card table. But large games with a group of players can occupy a whole day if desired. (when we can finally gather again)

Rules are simple. I originally created the game for my kids in cubscouts, but my friend and I have been designing miniatures games as a hobby for decades. We peppered a seemingly simple game with our experience and inserted a surprising amount of strategy.

The full prints give you a sense of waves and waves of soldiers. Using the "PLA saving" prints, it reminds you of those military history books with movement arrows and formations.

If you've always wanted to try wargaming, assuming you have some dice and a ruler, you are 14 grams of filament and 2 hours away from getting your feet wet. If you don't have dice we gave you files for those also. If you're really strapped, cut out the basic shapes on the last page and use them to play.

We'll get through this together. Lets find a good way to spend some time cooped up.

Print instructions

For minimal PLA version (you will need dice, tokens, paper, or something to track the number of Figyors on the Base) use the STLs_Mnimimal folder. These are designed to use the minimum PLA possible while still achieving full playability.

For Full Units with removable printed Figyors, use the STLs_Full folder. These are designed to fit print bed as small as 3 inches by 3 inches or 100mm eliptical. For cavalry, you will need two prints for a full unit (Base + 4 Figyors). If you have a larger print bed, simply load both STLs into your slicer.

For quicker printing we recommend a 0.2mm layer height with a 20% infill, no supports. However, for improved rolling and durability, we recommend the dice are printed at 100% infill.

If you don't want to print the dice, simply use d6's and consult the Attack value chart.
