The Terracotta Army is a breathtaking collection of life-sized terracotta sculptures depicting the magnificent armies of Qin Shi Huang, China's first and most legendary Emperor. These incredible figures were deliberately buried with the emperor in 210–209 BCE to safeguard him from harm during his eternal journey into the afterlife. Carefully crafted over 2,000 years ago, these remarkable warrior replicas were discovered by a group of resourceful local farmers in Lintong County, situated just outside Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China. The year was 1974, and little did they know that their accidental discovery would unveil one of history's greatest secrets. According to recent estimates from 2007, the three enormous pits containing the Terracotta Army held an astonishing number of over 8,000 soldiers, along with 130 chariots and a whopping 520 horses. Additionally, there were 150 majestic cavalry horses standing guard alongside their infantry counterparts. These incredible warrior replicas have been carefully preserved through high-resolution scans made by National Geographic during their time on loan to the United States.
