This add-on solves three major problems with the stock feed head on a Monoprice Maker Select Ultimate or a Wanhao D6 (which are essentially identical printer designs). 1) Prevents filament from wearing away at the hole where it enters the printhead while allowing for a smooth turn from the spool. I've added an image showing how to use a piece of wire and screws in drilled holes to hold it in place, though the print itself doesn't have these holes yet - you can see what I'm talking about in the picture with the wire. 2) Secures the ribbon cable that causes endless hassle as it creeps out after prolonged use. 3) Eases the turn of the ribbon cable as it enters its connector on top. A version 1 remains on this post that doesn't address ribbon cable issues but does fix the filament hole problem mentioned above. For best results, print with the part growing out one side like a real extrusion would grow - check out the STL picture for the ideal orientation. After making around 50 prints, I noticed the top of the printhead was being enlarged by friction from the filament and possibly poor-quality plastic. I also saw that the filament fed in behind the machine while the ribbon cable had to make a tight bend through the feed hole. Lastly, I encountered issues with the ribbon cable working its way out of the connector after the hot glue holding it broke free. This part is installed by removing the top two black screws that hold the printhead to the 1/16 inch metal plate. Then place this part as shown in my install picture and secure it with two M3 screws, each 12mm long. Because the filament will eventually wear away at this part, simply make another one later on without compromising a critical printer component that can be hard to find.
