Wanhao i3 mini extruder mount ( e3d v6 )
thingiverse
This is my first version of this mount, and I've already tested it on my own machine as well as another one, so I can confidently say that it fits perfectly. Designed specifically to properly secure the hotend, this mount features a dedicated part cooler and moves the X-axis end switch to provide more build area - just remember to flash the firmware if you want to unlock the full potential of your increased build space. Built to utilize M3 brass inserts for all threaded connections, I sourced mine from Amazon but they can also be obtained from other suppliers. Installing them is a breeze - simply push them in slowly with a soldering iron and you're good to go. Check out this link to see the exact type of insert I used: https://www.amazon.com/a16041800ux0827-Cylindrical-Knurled-Threaded-Embedded/dp/B01IZ1RN0A/ref=sr_1_6?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1535055018&sr=1-6&keywords=m3+brass+insert To keep the hotend cool, I reused the original fan and attached it to the built-in fan duct. I also added a 30mm fan to replicate the cooling system used in the E3D V6 hotend - you can easily find affordable replicas online. When setting up your machine, be aware that the new X-axis endstop position might require you to nudge the LM8UU X-axis bearings slightly towards the left (X axis max position) to avoid any interference. Don't worry, they're securely held in place but should move over with minimal effort. As for future refinements, I'll likely revisit this design once I have more time on my hands and post updates accordingly.
