Note: Superseded by the newer V2: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1679353 This block is designed to clamp around your fan and slide into the heatsink. Now when you take the extruder apart, those little round spacers don't roll all over. BOM Printed parts 2x M3x12 (or slightly longer) or #4x1/2 wood screws 2x M3x45 (which are 5mm longer than the ones the extruder uses by default) Print Settings Printer: Wanhao Duplicator i3 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: 0.1 to 0.2mm Infill: 25% to 50% Notes: Not structural, so even 25% infill appears sufficient. For better surface quality, slow it way down (I did 20mm/s, outside perim at 15mm/s, 0.1 layers with ABS, xy jerk around 8). I designed it so that first layer mash (or brim) shouldn't affect the fit on the heatsink. The visible surface of the grill is a bottom layer though, so rafting there would be visible. Custom Section Assembly The large part goes on the fan (and it only goes one way, but consider the wire exit). The small part goes on the opposite side of the fan (flat side toward fan), and secure with the 2 short screws. Slot onto heatsink (it only goes one way), and insert long screws. I know this is a little too tight; a future version will angle the holes slightly. Screw onto stepper, rear screw first, keeping clear of thermistor wires.
