Wanhao i3 120mm PSU Fan Upgrade for Undermount
thingiverse
I needed a 120mm fan upgrade for my Maker Select v2 because the stock 40mm fan makes a terrible grinding noise every time I turn the printer on. However, none of the options from Kozar worked for me since I'm mounting my control box under the table where my printer is located. To accommodate the 120mm fan, I had to flatten the top and increase the angle on the bottom. I took pictures of both the stock fan and its replacement. As you can see in the pictures, the stock fan is tiny compared to the replacement. It moves about 9 cubic feet per minute of air, whereas the replacement is rated at almost 70 cubic feet per minute (at maximum RPM)! Even the most inexpensive 120mm fan will move around 30 cubic feet per minute. This extended back cover is designed for the Wanhao Duplicator i3 PSU, also rebranded as Monoprice Maker Select, Balco 3D Printer, and Cocoon Create. It allows you to use a 120mm fan instead of the noisy tiny internal one. The new fan will be mounted outside of the power supply, making it much quieter. This modification adds about 10mm of extra length to the bottom. I'm not sure if other versions of the printer have a different arrangement for screw holes. This part was designed for a v2.1 (v2 should be the same). Check compatibility with v1 and rebranded versions before printing. The stock screws won't work for this part, so you'll need to use M3x8mm or longer screws to attach the cover to your PSU case. Screw holes aren't countersunk; they're just counterbored, so choose screws with a flat top.
