I've found that all filament tube holders I've seen so far have the tube holder positioned at some angle relative to the mounting plate. When printing these holders, I couldn't find an orientation that prints all parts in their strongest orientations. This holder largely follows James Armstrong's design, with the only difference being the orientation of the tube once connected. The standard screws need to be replaced with longer ones, and a PTFE 2mm ID 4mm OD tube is used, which is common in bowden setups. One key advantage of changing the angle is that the print can be laid flat without supports, allowing for the strongest printing orientation possible. The tube hole is slightly angled within the straight rectangular base to provide a slight alleviation in the direction change. EDIT: mk2 contains no screw hold-ups, making it possible to use a shorter screw. Print Settings Printer: Wanhao Duplicator i3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 20% Notes: Printed in ABS without any trouble; it should also print well in PLA. Infill density is not an important factor, and I only printed at 20% to ensure it lasts more than a few days. Post-Printing If the bolts stick inside the holes, drill them out with a 3mm bit.
