You're saying lights aren't a big deal in the dark? It's not very handy to quickly check if the printer is working right without turning on the room lights, waking up the child and upsetting your wife. But you can help yourself with that! Just buy a small LED strip with 12 volts. Pull a cable from the existing wiring harness down into the electronics of your printer. On the motherboard it has a slot (12-24V) where the floor fan is connected. Cut the cables of the fan and solder two cables of your Led-Stripes to it. Then solder two more cables to it, preferably with a suitable connector for the motherboard and plug it into the slot on the motherboard. Fan and LED will be supplied by the same port. Stripping the insulation is certainly not a bad idea either. Otherwise, instead of an awake, screaming child and an angry woman, you will have a burned-down house. The print file only fits my LED strip, but you can easily adjust the cutout yourself. The whole thing can be mounted directly on the fan grill (also found here at Thingiverse) with a screw. Note: This will probably void any warranty of your printer. Of course I don't take any liability, this is only for inspiration. Never interfere with the electronics of your printer, not even if you know what you are doing.
