Wanhao Duplicator I3 Bowden Extruder for E3D V6 / Clone I set out to install a Bowden extruder on my i3, but specific requirements of mine couldn't be met by any existing design. I decided to combine two excellent mounts from JonBAL and Tech2C to create the ChandersV6R0. Skills Required Patience is crucial for this project Soldering skills are essential Troubleshooting skills will come in handy Tools Needed A standard set of allen keys provided by Wanhao Soldering iron, solder, heat shrink tubing Snips for cutting 3D printer to print parts needed Parts Required E3D v6 (J-head) hotend for 1.75mm filament Comes with cooling fan, heat break, heating block, heater cartridge, nozzle, PTFE tube for 1.75mm filament Some cable management tubing M3 and M4 nuts, screws, and bolts of assorted lengths 12V DC 50mm Blower Radial Cooling Fan Parts Reused M4 screws that hold existing assembly to bearing block M2 screws for X-Axis Endstop Thermistor (I chose not to recompile firmware for another thermistor) Important Note! This mount changes Z and Y distances of the hotend. Replacement mounts for end stops will be necessary. I used these two STLs. Extruder Stepper Motor Mount We'll need a new location for the extruder stepper motor once we remove the assembly. I used these mounts, which are designed for a specific pneumatic fitting diameter. Make sure to print one that fits your pneumatic fitting. X-Axis Belt Mount After removing the assembly, anchor the X-Axis belts by using two M4 hole locations that will be zip-tied. Print this section at 100% infill since it will bear forces from tightened belts. I used these tensioners to tighten the belts when complete. Bearing Mount This assembly is designed for Wanhao i3 and clones V2.1. If you have an i3 with a different version, check compatibility before proceeding. READ IMPORTANT! The stock heater won't fit the new heating block, so get one that comes with the kit.
