Update 6/29/2018: The original bracket was a pretty tight fit that actually had to bend to get into place. I also had a print with significant layer shift which makes me wonder if the cooling of this setup is not enough for some reason. Maybe the fan was too close to the board to allow for good airflow? Maybe it was already too close to the back panel to allow good airflow? Anyway, I extended the legs a couple mm to see if things fit better. I also did another version for a 100x12 fan. This second version also has the slightly longer legs. Neither of these is tested yet.

I liked what mentalbob did for holding a larger (and quieter) fan than the default 40mm screamer inside the printer, but found the 60mm fan was still the loudest thing on the printer. After locating an 80mm fan I had laying around that was designed for a home theater PC, I decided to adjust the dimensions on the original design and try it out. With this fan things are QUIET. I believe the fan I had is this one https://www.amazon.com/SilenX-IXP-52-11-iXtrema-80x15mm-Computer/dp/B000P0HZ6W/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1530071177&sr=8-11&keywords=SilenX+iXtrema but I bought the fan ages ago.

The only issue with the fan is that it is 12V and the printer is 24V. To solve this I ordered a buck converter on Amazon. There are a bunch of cheap ones there, but I bought this pack of five just to have a couple extras laying around: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0758ZTS61/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 After solding a couple leads and adjusting the output voltage it worked like a champ

All in all I am extremely pleased so far with how quiet the printer operates now. If you haven't done the motor damper mod as described here https://www.printer3d.one/en/wanhao-duplicator-6-monoprice-maker-ultimate-tips-improvements/#C do that as well and everything runs dramatically quieter than stock
