Update 6/29/2018: The original bracket fit pretty tightly, requiring it to bend in order to get into place. I also encountered a print with significant layer shift, which led me to question whether the cooling setup was sufficient for some reason. Maybe the fan was too close to the board, impeding airflow? Perhaps it was already positioned too close to the back panel, restricting airflow? To see if things fit better, I extended the legs by a couple of mm. I also created another version designed for an 100x12 fan. This second version features slightly longer legs as well. Neither of these designs has been tested yet. I liked what mentalbob did in designing a larger and quieter fan than the default 40mm screamer inside the printer, but found that the 60mm fan remained the loudest component on the printer. After locating an 80mm fan I had lying around, designed for a home theater PC, I decided to adjust the dimensions of the original design and give it a try. With this fan in place, things are remarkably quiet. The fan I used is likely this one https://www.amazon.com/SilenX-IXP-52-11-iXtrema-80x15mm-Computer/dp/B000P0HZ6W/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1530071177&sr=8-11&keywords=SilenX+iXtrema, but I purchased it a long time ago. The only issue with the fan is that it operates on 12V, while the printer runs at 24V. To resolve this problem, I ordered a buck converter from Amazon. There are numerous cheap options available, but I bought this pack of five just to have some extras on hand: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0758ZTS61/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 After soldering a couple of leads and adjusting the output voltage, it worked perfectly. Overall, I am extremely pleased so far with how quiet the printer operates. If you haven't already done so, be sure to do the motor damper mod as described here https://www.printer3d.one/en/wanhao-duplicator-6-monoprice-maker-ultimate-tips-improvements/#C for even quieter operation than stock.
